Rabbi Josh Breindel and his family have been a blessing to Temple Anshe Amunim and the Jewish community of the Berkshires since his arrival in 2009.
Raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Rabbi Josh received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (along with a concentration in Legal Studies and a minor in Classics) from Brandeis University in 1997.
A gifted educator, singer and storyteller, Rabbi Josh served as a Judaica instructor and youth leader throughout the greater Boston area for over a decade. Rabbi Josh earned two Master's Degrees at Hebrew College (Newton, MA) in Jewish Studies and Jewish Education. He received simcha (rabbinic ordination) from Hebrew College in 2009.
In the greater Berkshire community, Rabbi Josh has served as the first Jewish President of PACC (the Pittsfield Area Council of Congregations). He lectures to local and regional organizations on topics of Jewish and spiritual interest, including mysticism, ethics, spirituality and the role of science fiction in Jewish culture. Rabbi Josh regularly appears on regional radio and television programs during the holiday seasons as well. He serves on the board of the University of Vermont Hillel as well as on the ethics committee of the Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts.
Rabbi Josh lives in Pittsfield with his wife, Stephanie Bennett, and their children.
